A movie written and directed by Eva Victor and released in 2025. This is her directorial debut. It’s about Agnes, who is going through a trauma, and how she deals with it in her life.
The movie talks about a heavy subject but still tries to add elements of comedy into each situation, which makes the film somewhat weird in a good way. Whenever something bad is being told, I was expecting something fun to come along the way.
Eva Victor uses her sense of humour throughout the film, which elevates the movie to a different level. It’s not the conventional way of storytelling I expect from such a subject. The mastery of Eva and her vision is something that should be mentioned.
In the movie, Agnes (played by Eva) is a special kind of character. She has different dimensions — she is smart, dim, extraordinary. Not only her, but every character in the film has some weird quality.
Those who we see as evil have light in them. At the beginning, I was not getting the point of the film, but it came together by the second half. It’s a small story. The different pieces of the story are clubbed into a whole picture.
What I can say about this film is that it’s genuine, honest, unique, and emotionally impactful.
Writing: Eva Victor has done a very good job here. The dialogues keep the movie really going — unexpected lines at unexpected times — and they make us laugh.
This movie may not hit everyone. I have a low emotional affinity, so I could watch it without feeling too overwhelmed.
This movie is about how life goes on. No matter what happens, it will go on — at least for others.
Agnes tries to talk about her trauma to different people, and the movie shows how different people react to it, and how she feels about their reactions.
Others seem more scared for her when she’s telling them. This dynamics with her friends, colleagues and other people she encounters show how people around us can impact our life.
Cinematography: The movie takes place in a dim setup, in winter, where there are no leaves on the trees.
It uses a pale palette, which makes it a bit sad. But when thinking about it, this makes perfect sense for the movie.
This film is made with a lot of care and intention, which makes us feel that it’s doing something engaging. There’s no unnecessary fluff.
Ending: There is no closure in the ending. Agnes is just telling another character what she would do for them if they faced the same problem.
It doesn’t tell exactly how she will move forward. But in the movie itself, it is said that even though the trauma happened long ago, the time passed is not “too much.”
Some things keep haunting you always.
